Hello! My name is Jessica Ramos and I’m one of the Summer 2018 interns here within the Department of Contemporary English. I am 20 years old and will be graduating this December with a B.A. in English, minors in both anthropology and education, and my certification for teaching English as a second language.

About Me: I come from a very large family—I have over 50 first-degree cousins!—and so I grew up traveling around the world to visit my different relatives. Needless to say, traveling has become one of my passions! Coming to Japan has always been a dream of mine, and because I want to be an ALT in the future, I’m beyond grateful that I was given the opportunity to intern at Ibaraki Christian University. I will be an intern here until August, and am a little sad that I’m only able to stay for three months. However, I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and am hoping to return to Japan after I graduate!

I really enjoy spending time in nature and just relaxing as I listen to music. I’m really happy to have been introduced to many Japanese artists during my stay in Japan. My favorites are ONE OK ROCK, Yonezu Kenshi, and ウソツキ! My hobbies are traveling, reading, playing video games, and hiking! Below is a picture of my brother and I when we were traveling to Bryce Canyon.

Hometown: I grew up in Orlando, Florida, which is very famous for Disney World! I really enjoy watching Disney movies. My favorites are Peter Pan, Moana, and Coco!

School: I attend school at the University of Florida. In my free time, I help international students study for the TOEFL examination and university students apply for research positions as an ambassador of undergraduate research.

Being an intern here has been so much fun! I’m looking forward to the rest of my time in Japan. 😊
